Waiting For Superman made me worry, and I’m glad. Because now, I get it. And I don’t want to forget:

I’m worried that the US education system has become more about the adults, and less about the kids.

I’m worried that many teachers simply don’t care enough to give their best to students. Perhaps they become teachers for their own reasons, and that may be a reason why so many teachers are bad. Straight up, bad.

I’m worried that the Teachers’ Unions make it nearly impossible to fire bad teachers. We fire a much, much higher percentage of incompetent doctors and lawyers than we do teachers. I don’t think tenure should exist for High School teachers.

I’m worried that a lot of sleepy, tenured teachers will never see this movie.

It’s not just about social media. When it comes to saving a client’s ass, (and their money) I’m a hardcore advocate of print. The like-minded folks over at OK Great have summed it up nicely.

The best way for you to utilize your marketing budget in this day in age is without a doubt a print campaign. Forget the fancy websites, the apps, the social media spends. Put your money in print. fun. is fronted by Nat Ruess (formally of The Format). He started the group with Andrew Dost (Anathallo) and Jack Antonoff (Steel Train). In celebration of Record Store Day 2010, they have released a special live album, featuring versions of songs from their debut album “Aim And Ignite.” The release is entitled “fun. Presents Selected Selections From Their First Full-length Album, Heretofore Known as ‘Aim And Ignite,’ Performed Acoustically Live At Fingerprints.” This release was recorded at Long Beach, California, store Fingerprints, on August 30th, 2009. This store has become part concert hall and is really racking up the releases. The band is extremely talkative and the acoustic set up brings out the purity of the songs form their debut album. This is very pop-oriented rock, so be prepared to hear sweet melodies. Their studio album was produced by Roger Manning (Jellyfish) and Steven McDonald (Red Kross) so they have the proper credentials for this type of power pop. – https://digital.thinkindie.com

I drew the band members and made them into little cutouts! Then, with the help of Andrew Dost (Art Director) and Philip Southern (photographer), we made it happen. I added hand lettering to the cover and back panel, as well.

oly smokes! I love fanciful drop caps. This one’s by Jessica Hische, a very inspiring lady of the typographic persuasion. I’m sure this paragraph would look better if I had more to say, thus properly filling up the space around and below the lovely drop cap, but I must move on. Sigh. I suppose we’ll never know. Unless… I type this last sentence. Yes! Now, doesn’t that look just lovely.

Beer With Branson

Sir Richard Branson is awesome. Some might even go so far as to say he is, “the man.”

My good friend, Justin “Bugsy” Sailor, is determined to meet Mr. Branson, with a little help from his friends. (In addition to pulling sick tricks on a snowboard, Bugsy created and completed the obviously infamous, Hometown Invasion Tour.)

With the power of the internet, Bugsy hopes to meet Sir Richard Branson for a brew. I drew the illustrations for the project’s website, Beer With Branson.
